Examining bias in AI

Sarah Brown, an assistant professor of computer science, is examining how to prevent artificial intelligence from reinforcing biases. “My research is about how we can adapt machine-learning algorithms and the systems they are embedded in in order to prevent AI from reinforcing patterns of discrimination,” she says.
