Q. What makes the College of Arts and Sciences at URI unique?

A. The College of Arts and Sciences feels very collaborative. I have taken numerous courses that all taught me something to improve my foundation in design. I appreciate how interconnected my education has been, each course seeming to overlap with others. I also love how personal our relationships are with fellow students and staff. I have received so much support in the last four years!

What accomplishments and/or activities at URI are you most proud of now?

I received the Department of Landscape Architecture’s Undergraduate Academic Excellence Award, and am very proud of myself for that. I struggle with Attention Deficit Disorder, yet have been able to tackle the differences in my learning and studying and will be graduating Summa Cum Laude! Looking back, I am immensely proud to have done so well.

How did the COVID-19 pandemic impact your senior year?

I am a teaching assistant for the sophomore class, and it has been hard to see them experience what should be their first year in the studio, remotely. Thankfully our ASLA student chapter has been working hard to engage all of our students, and we have been able to interact and connect more than I thought!

What do you value about your liberal arts education?

I am grateful for the opportunity to hear from many different perspectives. A huge part of design is about how it will be experienced by everyone, so having a different point of view is always welcome! I have been so inspired in ways that I couldn’t have imagined, and am ready to make a difference in the world!
