What makes the College of Arts and Sciences at URI unique?

What makes the College of Arts and Sciences unique is the professors and the diverse range of classes offered. Every professor I’ve had has been so passionate about what they teach and clearly want all of us to succeed. I ended up changing my whole career path because I took a Criminal Justice policy class with a professor who was so passionate about the information that she convinced me that policy was the path I wanted to take. The College of Arts and Sciences offers an abundance of classes that allow students to expand their knowledge, helping us to become considerate, well-rounded adults. I truly value my time that I have spent here and the education I have received at URI.

What accomplishments and/or activities at URI are you most proud of now?

Well right now I am most proud of graduating and getting my degree because at some points it felt like this day would never come! I am also proud of making Dean’s List for the last 3 years and the knowledge I have gained while studying here.

What do you value about your liberal arts education?

What I value most about my liberal arts education is the knowledge and relationships I have gained here. URI does a fantastic job of hiring a diverse teaching staff who offer different perspectives and viewpoints. URI allows for you to expand your education outside of your specific major and I value this greatly because it has helped me to become a more worldly individual. From freshman year to now, I have become a more considerate and open-minded person and that is all thanks to the amazing professors and opportunities I have had during my time at URI.

What’s next for you?

My next steps after graduation are applying to URI’s MPA program and attending in the fall. I plan to study policy and hope to work in Criminal Justice reformation. I believe, especially now, that the Criminal Justice system needs reevaluation and I really hope that some day I get to be apart of that change.
