Exploring ecological interactions

Insights from our laboratories and field studies about how organisms live, grow, and change in the context of their ecological environment are making contributions to a broad range of areas.

Laboratories

Jannelle Couret is studying the ecology of medically important arthropod vectors and the application of this to surveillance and control of vector-borne diseases. Andrew Davies studies the ecology of temperate reef systems including long-term monitoring and impacts of marine plastic pollution. Serena Moseman-Valtierra uses field-based tools to investigate human impacts on carbon and nitrogen cycles of coastal wetlands. Evan Preisser works on predator-prey and herbivore-plant interactions with applications toward invasive species management, native species restoration and pest control on organic farms. Brad Wetherbee studies the role of fishes in marine ecosystems at physiological, population, community, ecological levels, and develops applications towards wise use of marine resources.
