Careers

Flagship undergraduate students represent the next generation of global professionals in the United States. Students come from all regions of the nation and pursue a variety of academic and professional interests in addition to language study.

Our graduates are prime candidates for graduate programs in engineering, medicine, law, education, and public policy. We have strong ties with global companies through our partners in the International Engineering Program and International Business Program. Government agencies such as the CIA, the NSA, and the Department of State actively recruit Flagship students.

The Language Flagship

The Language Flagship is a national effort to change the way Americans learn languages and to encourage more students to study and master those foreign languages that are deemed ‘critical’ to national security and economic prosperity. Because Chinese is among these ‘critical languages’ our students gain access to special scholarship opportunities. Flagship offers a network of programs language programs at colleges and universities across the United States in languages such as Arabic, Chinese, Hindi, Korean, Persian, Portuguese, Russian, Swahili, Turkish, and Urdu.

The Language Flagship seeks to graduate students who will take their place among the next generation of bilingual professionals, with a superior, or professional level of proficiency in a critical language. In addition to their language skills, Flagship scholars possess advanced cultural skills, experience living and working abroad; and intercultural insights. In an increasingly competitive global economy, employers tell us that these skills are a must and often result in higher salaries.
