The CMD Minor is designed for students in related programs (e.g., communications, education, psychology, human development and family sciences, health sciences, neuroscience) who are interested in learning more about the typical development and use of speech, language, hearing, and other communicative processes across the lifespan.
In addition to fulfilling all the basic requirements for a minor (see Declaration of Minor Field of Study form), students who declare a minor in CMD must complete the following CMD coursework: 9 credits of CMD courses at the 100 or 200 level; and 9 credits of CMD courses at the 300 or 400 level.
Students can also use the minor to complete the prerequisites required for graduate study in speech-language pathology (see https://web.uri.edu/cmd/academics/m-s-program/admission/#prerequisite).
