Neilsen, Nicholas J.

Name: Nicholas J. Neilsen
Where are you from: South Kingstown, Rhode Island
Major: Environmental and Natural Resource Economics
Expected Graduation date: May 2019

What is your responsibility as a 2018 URI Energy Fellow (i.e. what team are you on/where are you working)?
My placement is at the National Grid Energy Innovation Hub. I conduct tours to student classrooms, about new and exciting energy efficient technologies that National Grid offers, and how small changes in their daily lives can have a big energy impact in the world around them.  My favorite part of my job is giving tours to younger students, who have a thirst for knowledge.  Providing them with this new information so they can go home and spread to their friend and families about how they can be more energy efficient brings us one step closer to become sustainable.

What do you like to do in your free time? Are you involved in any other organizations or activities on campus?
In my free time, I enjoy hanging out with my friends in any setting, and playing competitive sports against them.  On campus, I am a part of the chess club, in which I attend weekly meetings and play games of chess against highly skilled individuals.
