Buck, Jamie

Name: Jamie Buck
Where are you from: Boston, MA
Major: Masters of Arts in Marine Affairs (MAMA)
Expected Graduation date: Fall 2019

What is your responsibility as a 2019 URI Energy Fellow (i.e. what team are you on/where are you working)?
I am an intern with the Office of Energy Resources (OER) for the State of Rhode Island. My main responsibility is managing OER’s summer internship program which matches college students with clean energy companies throughout the State of Rhode Island. My other responsibilities include working with my supervisors on residential and commercial solar programs and biofuel programs. I look forward immersing myself into solar and biofuel and learning more about both, given that my background is in offshore wind energy. Finally, I am very excited to work directly with green energy companies across the state.

What do you like to do in your free time? Are you involved in any other organizations or activities on campus?
I spend as much of my free time as possible outside – being in the outdoors has always been a priority of mine. I spend most of my free time hanging out with my dog, rock climbing, babysitting my nephew, drinking coffee, doing crossword puzzles, and catching up with old friends in Boston.
