Sawyer, Josh

Name: Josh Sawyer
Where are you from: South Kingstown, RI
Major: Master of Environmental Science & Management
Expected Graduation date: Spring 2020

What is your responsibility as a 2019 URI Energy Fellow (i.e. what team are you on/where are you working)?
I work at National Grid on the Energy Efficiency Team based out of Providence, working predominantly with public schools in RI and the RI Department of Education. As schools go through renovation projects or are built, we ensure that National Grid is there to offer energy efficient alternatives during the project design phase through data collection and analysis. We’re designing a system to readily assess where schools are in their five year plan and where National Grid can help. As a native Rhode Islander, it’s satisfying to assist with the energy future of the town(s) I spent my youth in.

What do you like to do in your free time? Are you involved in any other organizations or activities on campus?
I serve on the Charlestown Land Trust board where I assist with technology and baseline documentation reports. In what little free time I have, I enjoy reading and painting.
