Mentor an Energy Fellow and help to develop the next generation of Rhode Island’s energy workforce
What is the URI Energy Fellows Program?
The URI Energy Fellows Program is a year long, cooperative program that recruits and trains undergraduate and graduate students interested in careers in clean energy management, economics and policy. Students complete a 600-hour internship with an industry mentor over the course of a year, and participate in rigorous topical energy and professional development training administered at URI concurrently.
What is an Energy Fellows Program mentor?
Mentors are the cornerstone of the Energy Fellows Program, serving students employed by them during the fellowship year (January-December) to work on energy-related projects and programs.
How does URI support mentors?
URI manages the entire student recruitment and interview process and facilitates placement of students with mentors based on the incumbent skills and interests of the student vis a vis the needs identified by the mentor. URI provides continuous support throughout the year via in-person meetings, student training in professional development topics, networking opportunities for mentors and students, and more!
What could an Energy Fellow do for you?
Undergraduate and graduate Fellows may serve your organization as project assistants, data managers and analysts, market researchers, youth educators, outreach managers and more! Do you have a project or task you haven’t been able to dig into? URI Extension staff will provide project design assistance and monitoring throughout the year to ensure that your fellow is adding value to your team, while learning themselves!
