Hiring: Coordinator at the Coastal Resources Center

The University of Rhode Island, Coastal Resources Center is seeking a Coordinator to assist in performing routine and complex fiscal and administrative functions to support the Center’s programming portfolio. The coordinator will be responsible for developing proposals, assisting with the Principal Investigator’s (PI’s) guidance of overall project management, and performing post-award administrative, financial management, and accounting tasks.

Job Description Summary

As part of the Graduate School of Oceanography’s (GSO) Coastal Resources Center (CRC), assist Directors and Principal Investigators (PIs) in performing routine and complex fiscal and administrative functions to support the Center’s programming portfolio. Develop proposals, assist with PI’s guidance of overall project management, and perform post award administrative, financial management and accounting tasks.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist PIs in the development of complex, multi-year budgets for multi-million-dollar proposals with multiple sub-awardees and provide all supporting documentation required by the donor Request for Proposal.
  • Manage personnel projections and process related employee action notices.
  • Perform routine and complex administrative tasks including, but not limited to, purchasing; managing personnel contracts and sub-awards; assisting in hiring program staff; processing invoices; processing travel; creating and monitoring budgets; reviewing source documentation. All tasks must be performed in accordance with university, state, federal and sponsor guidelines, policies, and procedures.
  • Coordinate audits, facilitate the resolution of day-to-day research questions, provide programmatic training to internal and external partners, and establish operating procedures to streamline Center protocols.
  • Work with personnel in field offices, to assist with financial or administrative issues, including those related to audits, contracts, invoicing, human resources matters, or procedural questions.
  • Assist with other tasks such as workshops, study tours, Center logistics.
  • Implement documented University and Center wide policies, protocols, and best practices.
  • Create, implement, and evaluate systems to monitor both proposal submissions and post award grant administration.
  • As requested, assist the Center’s Directors with special projects and administrative assignments.
