Tyler joined CRC’s international team in 2022 where he now contributes to several projects in the team’s portfolio. He hopes his work can help maintain healthy ecosystems and thriving coastal communities. His interests include designing, carrying out, and analyzing applied fisheries research programs in cooperation with fishers, social-ecological systems modeling, and improving participatory governance. Tyler’s dissertation research took place in the Dominican Republic and focused on understanding coral-reef fisheries and finding management options that would improve reef condition and be appropriate for the social context. Tyler earned his PhD in Ecology, Evolution, Ecosystems, and Society from Dartmouth College in 2017. Prior to his graduate work, Tyler was a Peace Corps volunteer in Paraguay and received his B.S. in Biology from the University of Minnesota.
