Power and Energy Systems Outreach and Workforce Training Workshop

October 24, 2020
University of Rhode Island, Kingston, RI

The electrical grid is arguably the most essential infrastructure in modern society since most critical sectors are inherently contingent on reliable supply of electricity. As the electrical grid becomes increasingly “smarter”—more integrated with control systems, communication technologies, and computer processing—it has also become more vulnerable to both cyber and physical threats. In addition to research and technology development to improve the security, resilience, and reliability of the grid, a strong and talented workforce can lessen vulnerabilities to such a critical infrastructure.

This one-day Power and Energy Systems Outreach and Workforce Training Workshop will focus on outreach and knowledge development to meet the critical needs of the future workforce in this area. This Workshop includes exciting presentations from experts in the field, information about the pathway to graduate school, professional engineering exam, and career and co-op opportunities in the energy sector.

The Workshop is divided into two themes. Our morning theme is: Technical Ingredients for Power and Energy, followed in the afternoon by: Career Pathways in Power and Energy.

We really hope that our workshop has sparked your interest. For more information about the workshop explore this website and please register for free by October 19th, 2020. The meeting link to this virtual workshop will be sent to all registered participants on October 20, 2020.
