Eric Hoyt

Biography

I am an economist with research and teaching interests in labor economics, institutional economics, and economic history. My dissertation focuses on the impact of state adoption and restriction of wrongful discharge laws, a court-based form of employment protection in the U.S., on wages, union density, job tenure, and on-the-job training. I’ve received a Louis O. Kelso Fellowship for my research on the impact of employee ownership on racial and gender employment diversity and earnings. In this work, I examine the largest to date establishment level data set on employee ownership using confidential Census microdata.

I received my BA in economics from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and PhD in economics from the University of Massachusetts Amherst.

I enjoy playing guitar, soccer, and bicycling.
