Biography

Prof. Knott joins the Department of Economics at URI as an Assistant Teaching Professor after serving for four years as a Visiting Assistant Professor of Economics at Wake Forest University. She wrote her doctoral dissertation on how changes to local- and state-level alcohol and drug policies may affect impaired driving. Her research interests lie generally in the fields of regional/urban economics, law and economics, the economics of crime, and public economics. Originally from Wilmington, NC, Prof. Knott is glad that serving at URI allows her to return to the coast, where she belongs. Her hobbies include reading, knitting, and visiting the beach (but only when it’s cold out so as to avoid the tourists). Prof. Knott also contributes to URI’s Bachelor’s of Interdisciplinary Studies online program.
