During March 2015, Hunger Center Director, Kathleen Gorman and SNAP Outreach Coordinator, Maria Cimini, went to Washington DC for the annual Food Research Action Center Anti-Hunger Conference. Joining with nearly 1,000 anti-hunger advocates from across the country, Kathleen and Maria attended a panel presentation by FNS/USDA regarding federal SNAP policy, participated in round table discussions with colleagues about how other states are handling proposal for photos on EBT cards and modernization efforts that jeopardize client SNAP access, and learned about innovative initiatives to deliver medically-tailored meals to low-income, homebound individuals. Maria also met with the RI Congressional delegation to thank them for their continued support of federal nutrition assistance programs and offer the assistance of the URI SNAP Outreach Project to their constituents needs SNAP help.
