The URI chapter of the Society of Women Engineers (SWE) welcomed 29 Girls Scouts to campus recently for a hands-on day of learning about engineering.
The fourth and fifth graders represented Girl Scout troops from all over Rhode Island and Southeastern Massachusetts.
Striving to earn an Engineering Your Tomorrow badge, the scouts rotated through stations to learn about different engineering disciplines, such as electrical, mechanical and civil engineering. Activities included an egg drop challenge, building structures out of newspapers and tape, and building circuits.
The SWE chapter has hosted this event since 1994.
