Engineering Academic Milestones

University College to College of Engineering Admission (internal)

Once admitted to the University, the academic home for all students is University College for Academic Success (UCAS). You then need to meet academic requirements set forth by the College your major is housed in, in this case the College of Engineering, to continue to pursue that degree plan. These requirements, detailed below, are normally satisfied within your first 2-3 semesters at the University.

For Engineering majors, these requirements are meant to help confirm your ability to successfully complete the program you are pursuing, as well as satisfying key prerequisites for future major coursework along the way.

All Engineering majors must successfully complete the following coursework, earning the specific course grades and grade point average (GPA) indicated. Please note, in many cases there are also specific course grade, average of specific course grades, and/or grade point average requirements to enroll in degree requirements connected to these foundation courses:

To be admitted to the COE, students must complete at least 24 credits (including transfer credits) with a grade point average of 2.00 or better, and must also complete the following required courses with a grade point average of 2.00 or better and a grade of “C-” or better in each course:  CHM 101/102, EGR 105, EGR 106, MTH 141, MTH 142, PHY 203/273, and either PHY 204/274 or CHM 112/114.
