Ms. Katherine Therieau

Katherine Therieau is Director of International Trade Programs at the Rhode Island Commerce Corporation, where she manages the international trade partnership between the agency and the John Chafee Center for International Business at Bryant University. She creates and executes international trade programs for Rhode Island businesses, including trade missions, grants for customized export training, market development programs, seminars on timely trade topics, and New England regional trade promotion events. She has led and coordinated successful business trade missions to Europe, China, India, South America, Mexico, Canada, Ireland, Israel, the Caribbean and the Middle East. She is dedicated to helping Rhode Island businesses find solutions for their trade needs and increase their export productivity and profitability. She consults with companies and individuals on a daily basis on numerous trade-related topics including export sales and marketing, financing, logistics, compliance, and export sales.

Kathy has been with the International Trade Office for 22 years. Prior to being promoted to her current position, Kathy was associate international trade director of the Rhode Island Economic Development Corporation’s (RIEDC) International Trade Office.

Kathy holds a BA in international studies from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. She completed study-abroad programs at the University of Jalapa, Mexico, and University of Valladolid, Spain, and an internship at the Congress of the Deputies in Madrid, Spain. Kathy received her MBA from the Thunderbird School of Global Management. She is NASBITE Certified Global Business. She is also a fellow of the Robert J. Thompson Eastern Leadership Academy held in partnership by the Council of State Governments and the Fels Institute of Government at the University of Pennsylvania.
