Participation in the graduate commencement ceremony acknowledges the completion of degree requirements and signifies academic accomplishment of the highest order. Graduate Candidates eligible to march in the ceremonies include the following:
- Those who have completed their degree requirements by August 2015, December 2015, or May 2016.
- Those who will have completed their course work and passed their comprehensive examination(s) or master’s examination (if required) during or before the Spring 2016 semester and will have successfully defended their dissertations/theses (if a dissertation or thesis is required) by the appropriate Friday in April 2016 listed in the Graduate School deadline calendar.
- Those in programs with required internships who will have completed their course work and passed their comprehensive examination(s) or master’s examination (if required) during or before the Spring 2016 semester, will have successfully defended their dissertations/theses (if a dissertation or thesis is required) by the appropriate Friday in April 2016 listed in the Graduate School deadline calendar, and will have completed their internships by September 15th, 2016.
Undergraduate candidates: Those who have completed their degree requirements by December 2015, or those who are on track to do so by May 2016 or August 2016 are eligible to participate in the ceremonies.
Please note that even if you are marching, your name will not appear in the Commencement Program if you have a FERPA restriction or an outstanding academic issue on your record. Receipt of commencement information does not, in any way, constitute certification for graduation.
