A football scholarship played a significant role in Power Kanga’s decision to attend the University of Rhode Island, but after a shoulder injury ended his football career in his freshman year, he focused on his engineering studies and joined the Rhode Island National Guard.
Kanga recently graduated from URI with a bachelor’s degree in industrial and systems engineering.
He shared his inspiring journey of leaving war-torn Liberia as a young child, to having an all-state high school football career at Bishop Hendricken, to overcoming adversity at URI, with the media.
