Accelerated B.S.-M.S. Degree ProgramsBiomedical Engineer

In addition to our B.S. degree programs, the college offers a five-year accelerated program leading to a B.S. degree in any of our engineering disciplines and an engineering M.S. degree. Students may apply for the specific accelerated program in the major of interest during their junior year after meeting GPA and course requirements that vary by discipline. Requirements and specific details for each program can be found on our department web sites.

Biomedical Engineering, B.S.

Our biomedical engineers apply engineering methods and principles, adapting technology to solve problems in the life sciences and medicine in order to improve and save lives. Our students learn how to design and develop medical equipment and instrumentation for the diagnosis and treatment of various diseases and health problems as well as for use in biological research. Learn more.

Chemical Engineering, B.S.

With an emphasis on hands-on experience, our students combine learning in chemistry, physics and biology to prepare for careers in chemical production, pharmaceuticals, polymers, new materials, renewable energy, environmental sustainability and more. Our students pursue a traditional chemical engineering degree, and have the option of selecting a biology or pharmaceutical track. Learn more.

Civil engineerCivil Engineering, B.S.

From implementing smart transit systems, to designing wind farm foundations, to ensuring water quality, to crafting evacuation models, to creating safer bridges, our civil engineers provide the backbone of the world’s infrastructure. We place an emphasis on global learning that bridges classroom knowledge with projects abroad. Learn more.

Computer Engineering, B.S.

Our students learn to develop computer systems that drive the modern world. We develop better ways to route Internet traffic, improve data security and integrity, provide clear cell phone reception and even predict the weather. Our students learn to combine hardware concepts from electrical engineering with software concepts from computer science to design these systems and others. Learn more.

Electrical Engineering, B.S.

Electrical engineering lies at the heart of modern science. Our students develop the circuits that form the basis of computer and communication systems and provide the controls for large-scale systems. Our students are introduced to a wide range of applications from electronics and device fabrication, to computers, to control and communication, to electromagnetics and optics. Learn more.

Industrial & Systems Engineering, B.S.

Our students improve systems across all industries, including defense, aviation, manufacturing and health care. We ensure these systems operate at top efficiency and safety. We combine broad engineering skills with behavioral science to graduate students ready to tackle even the most complex system challenges. Learn more.

Mechanical Engineering, B.S.

We create the products that you use every day. Our work enhances cars, energy systems, medical devices, nuclear power and other equipment upon which our society depends. Our labs develop blast-resistant materials, innovative medical diagnostic tools and new alloy materials. Learn more.

Ocean Engineering, B.S.
Ocean engineer

Our nationally recognized program is a leader in ocean instrumentation and robotics, underwater acoustics, marine hydrodynamics and tsunamis, coastal modeling, marine geomechanics, coastal and offshore structures, and offshore power generation. Our students balance rigorous fundamental courses with practical laboratory and field experience utilizing our coastal location, a 100-foot wave tank, an acoustic tank and a 42-foot research vessel. Learn more.

Minor in Nuclear Engineering

One of few such programs in the country, the nuclear engineering minor provides students the fundamental knowledge of nuclear power engineering. Students can leverage the knowledge to pursue employment in fields associated with the construction, operation, or regulation of nuclear power generation or continue to a graduate nuclear engineering program. Learn more.

Minor in Engineering Entrepreneurship

The Minor in Engineering Entrepreneurship blends technology and business to provide engineering undergraduates with the skills needed to become entrepreneurs, innovators, and leaders in both startups and established companies. Students learn best practices in new product development, the business of engineering, financing and planning projects, patents and more in this hands-on program. Learn more.

Minor in Environmental Engineering

Environmental engineering involves the study of clean water, clean air, waste management and preservation of resources, in ways that minimize effects detrimental to the earth’s environment. If you enjoy engineering and the environment, this minor is for you. Study clean water, clean air, waste management, and preservation of the earth’s resources. Learn more.

Minor in Robotics

Any engineering major may declare a “Minor in Robotics Engineering” field of study, which will be listed on the student’s academic record after graduation. If you enjoy the ocean, along with the building of underwater and land vehicles and drones, take a look at this exciting program. Learn more.

International Engineering Program (IEP)

Our distinctive International Engineering Program combines a B.S. degree in any of the college’s engineering disciplines with a B.A. degree in a foreign language (German, Spanish, French, Chinese or Italian). The five-year program includes a year studying abroad. The first semester abroad is spent at the IEP’s partner university taking engineering, language, and culture courses in the host language. This is followed by a six-month paid internship with an international engineering firm in the same country. Learn more.
