Biography
Shay specializes in Postmodern British and American literature, 20th century theory particularly existentialist theory, and contemporary ethical theory. Her research interests include disability studies, environmental ethics, censorship, and existentialism. Prior to coming to URI, she received her Bachelor’s degree from Saint Francis University, where her previous thesis focused on the figure of the Byronic Hero in the literature of Anya Seton, focusing on her transatlantic development of the archetype. Shay also enjoys traveling, surfing, attempting to train her cat, and Disney. When not teaching, writing, or studying she can be found either on the beach or with a cup of Earl Grey in hand.
