The Sustainability program works across the University of Rhode Island to connect people, ideas, and action in support of a more sustainable future. By collaborating with students, faculty, staff, senior leaders, and community partners, we help advance sustainability initiatives that strengthen the university’s operations, academic mission, research enterprise, and community impact.

We view the campus as a living laboratory where teaching, research, and day-to-day operations can come together to test new ideas, foster innovation, and create real-world learning opportunities. Through collaboration and continuous improvement, we strive to integrate sustainability into the way URI plans, operates, learns, and serves, helping to create lasting environmental, social, and economic value for the university and the communities it supports.
