Biography
Dr. Deutsch grew up in New York City, and knew she wanted to be a veterinarian since she was 6 years old. After pursuing her dream and achieving her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine, she practiced as a primary care veterinarian back home in New York, seeing all the animals that walked through the door. Searching for a new challenge, she pursued additional specialized training in animal welfare and aquaculture at UC Davis, earning her Certificate in Aquatic Veterinary medicine before joining the faculty at URI.
Dr. Deutsch’s academic interests include animal welfare, sustainability, end of life care, and aquaculture medicine. She also enjoys mentoring and advising prospective veterinary students. In her personal life, she enjoys cooking, meeting new dogs and spending time with her family.
