The William Randolph Hearst Endowed Fellowship for Minority Students is a nearly year-long opportunity to work with the Aspen Institute Program on Philanthropy and Social Innovation for the fall, spring, and summer sessions on programming that focuses on spotlighting organizations looking to improve their communities through grants and nonprofit work. This is a paid position and will allow students to explore this type of work for their future careers.
It is possible to work with a student’s university to arrange for credit to be given for this opportunity, but fellows are paid hourly for the work that they do with the program. However, awardees are responsible for their housing and travel costs throughout their fellowship. While this is a paid position, that is not the only benefit of this fellowship. It has a clear focus on making a positive impact on one’s community through nonprofit organizations and other groups that strive to provide for the areas that they serve. This fellowship would serve as experience in working with those types of groups and in that field as well as opening doors to networking opportunities in those groups.
