Partner with Food Recovery for RI

Food Recovery for Rhode Island (FRRI) works alongside community organizations across the state to reduce food waste, improve food access, and support local, community‑driven solutions.

We partner with projects that:

  • Help people make the most of their food
  • Reduce food waste in the community
  • Address food waste and food access at the same time

How We Support Partners

FRRI may help by:

  • Connecting partners with Food Recovery program graduates as volunteers or staff
  • Offering training and networking opportunities for staff or affiliates
  • Linking partners to resources and experts at the University of Rhode Island and trusted organizations across Rhode Island

How the Partnership Process Works

  • Interested partners reach out to request a short project co‑design form.
  • Partners meet with the FRRI Program Leader to talk through ideas and questions.
  • The completed form is reviewed by URI Extension staff.
  • If approved, FRRI helps recruit volunteers and support the project throughout the year.

What We Look For- Projects are a good fit if they:

  • Are based in Rhode Island
  • Address both food waste and food access
  • Involve Food Recovery for Rhode Island graduates in education, food rescue, or food recycling
  • Are willing to share simple year‑end impact information

Our Partners

“I am going to use what I learned in my position as Indigenous Empowerment Coordinator at the Tomaquag Museum to teach the Native community about modern composting methods. I want to highlight their differences and similarities to traditional composting techniques, while sharing modern and traditional food preservation techniques.”
Laurel Spears, ’24 Indigenous Empowerment Center Coordinator, Tomaquag Museum
