8th Grade Compassion & Selfless Service Award
The URI Center for Nonviolence & Peace Studies will present this prestigious annual award to selected 8th Grade Rhode Island students who exemplify the qualities of compassion and selfless service according to Gandhi’s philosophy that the highest form of service is rooted in love. He said, “the best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in service to others.” Ideal candidates for the award include students who give themselves unselfishly in service to others in their personal lives, in school, and in their communities.
