Our Partnering School Districts
Partnering school districts receive ongoing grade-specific professional development for science and STEM educators in kindergarten through grade 8, as well as mentoring and leadership training. Lasting partnerships are built on trusting relationships and a shared commitment to the continuous improvement of science education for all students.
“Thanks so much for supporting our Grades 2, 5, and K teachers today! There were many positive takeaways from the lesson observations and debriefs, and your work will most definitely improve science instruction at our school.”Principal, Chariho School District, RI
Supporting Equitable Science Instruction
Equity for all students in science education is a core value of the GEMS-Net partnership. GEMS-Net ensures all teachers receive support in using equitable teaching practices. Every student’s prior knowledge and new ideas are needed to move science thinking forward. GEMS-Net connects its programming to local spaces and communities with the goal of ensuring scientific learning is relevant to students’ lives. GEMS-Net provides opportunities for students to explore a variety of STEM college and career pathways to support students with opportunities to contribute to their communities. GEMS-Net prioritizes the contributions of all students and their unique strengths that can support our communities in being more sustainable and just.
“As a middle school teacher, it is really helpful to see the progression of lessons from elementary school to middle school with OpenSciEd.”8th Grade Teacher, Warwick, RI
