GEMS-Net Professional Learning Model

Partnering school districts receive ongoing grade-specific professional development throughout the year for all science teachers and administrators, as well as mentoring, classroom coaching, and leadership training. Lasting partnerships are built on trusting relationships and a shared commitment to advancing science education for all students.

“Thanks so much for supporting our Grades 2, 5, and K teachers today! There were many positive takeaways from the lesson observations and debriefs, and your work will most definitely improve science instruction at our school.”

Supporting Equitable Science Instruction

Equity for all students in science education is a core value of the GEMS-Net partnership. GEMS-Net ensures all teachers receive support in using equitable teaching practices. Every student’s prior knowledge and new ideas are needed to move science thinking forward.

GEMS-Net connects its programming to local spaces and communities with the goal of ensuring scientific learning is relevant to students’ lives.

By providing opportunities for students to explore a variety of STEM college and career pathways at an early age, the GEMS-Net team strives to inspire the next generation to contribute to their communities and beyond. All students and their unique strengths can support our communities in being more sustainable and just.
