Biography

Katie Roche is a Ph.D. student at the Graduate School of Oceanography where she uses molecular sequencing methods to study phytoplankton. Prior to her graduate studies, Katie served as a Peace Corps volunteer in Guinea, West Africa teaching middle school math, chemistry, and informatics. She received her B.S. in Biology and Math from SUNY Geneseo. While Katie’s background is focused in STEM and scientific writing, she enjoys working with students from all disciplines. Outside of work, she spends her time kayaking, making pottery, and cooking.
