Overview

Harrington students receive

  • Firsthand technical experience in filmmaking, television and media production, and pre- and post-production work.
  • Access to globally recognized award-winning faculty who are filmmakers and experts in narrative, documentary, commercial and experimental film.
  • Instruction in all aspects of film editing, history and production, media making, screenwriting, special effects creation, sound and video recording, and film theory and criticism.

An interdisciplinary department grounded in hands-on, immersive experience, the Harrington School’s Film/Media B.A. department provides student filmmakers with the educational and professional experiences necessary to succeed in a career in film and media production.

The film major also provides students with the opportunity to develop a unique, individualized, multidisciplinary curriculum comprising courses that serve their interests. Many of our students supplement their film studies work with courses in art, communication, journalism, English, theater, Africana Studies, gender and women’s studies, and languages.

Our graduates have worked on blockbuster Hollywood films, started their own production companies, become directors, producers, screenwriters, post-production specialists, film studies teachers and more.
