Minor Option
The minor in Film/Media requires you to complete 18 credits from courses currently eligible to count toward the major. Please consult with your advisor if you’re interested in declaring a minor.
B.F.A. Curriculum
The B.F.A. in Film Media is an intensive, experiential degree that integrates advanced creative practice with critical and historical study. The curriculum emphasizes sequential training in film and media production alongside rigorous engagement with theory, research and analysis. Students develop technical and conceptual proficiency through sustained coursework, collaborative projects and advanced culminating work that reflects professional standards and disciplined artistic inquiry. Students complete FLM 496, Capstone Seminar in Film/Media, and the one-credit FLM 397 BFA Portfolio during their junior year. In their senior year, students complete FLM 497, BFA Capstone.
Degree Requirements
Internships
Departmental and full-time internships are handled through the Center for Career and Experiential Education (CCEE).
You can earn credit for your internship through FLM 401: Field Experience in Film Media
- Earn 1 to 6 credits (graded)
- Structured academic work in a business, industry, educational or agency setting (under faculty supervision)
FLM 401 Requirements

- Permission of department chair
- Minimum 18 credits of the courses required for the major
- 2.5 cumulative GPA or higher
- Application and learning contract must be completed and approved before the start of the internship
