  • Six URI sophomores awarded 2024 NOAA Hollings Scholarships - Two honors students, Mary Brantley and Nicole Kobasa, are among the recipients of the nationally competitive National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration Ernest F. Hollings Undergraduate Scholarship for 2024. The award is the most prestigious scholarship granted to undergraduates in the marine and atmospheric sciences.
  • The Future of Textiles in Rhode Island - The University of Rhode Island will host its first “Future Textiles Forum” on Monday, April 22, with the participation of URI students and faculty from across the University, from diverse programs — textiles and engineering — as well as members of the Rhode Island Textile Innovation Network (RITIN) and other textile industry partners, and representatives from U.S. Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse’s office.
  • Kimball Foundation establishes scholarship for URI Honors Program - The Horace A. and S. Ella Kimball Foundation recently made a $100,000 gift to the University of Rhode Island to establish the Thomas F. Black Jr. Scholarship to support a junior in the URI Honors Program who takes an interest in the nonprofit sector.
  • 2024 Honors Colloquium to examine ‘Democracy in Peril’ - Brian Krueger, Ashlea Rundlett, Marc Hutchison and Elizabeth Mendenhall will lead this year’s 2024 Honors Colloquium, URI’s premier public lecture series, examining ‘Democracy in Peril.’ The free annual educational forum brings experts to the University annually to examine issues of national and local relevance; the series will open in September.
