Stephen Coutu ’24

Stephen is a non-traditional student at URI where he is working on double majoring in Psychology and English. He recently left his full-time job to complete his education, attending community college prior to starting at URI at the beginning of the Spring 2021 semester. In addition to coursework Stephen also works in the STRESS lab under the guidance of Dr. Nicole Wiess where he supports the on going research studies while also focusing on his own research interests. These interests include masculine ideology and how it intersects with gender roles and society, and suicide. Outside of URI Stephen is an avid reader who also enjoys writing, and spending time with his wife. After URI, Stephen hopes to be accepted into a clinical Psychology graduate program where he will continue to pursue Ph.D.
