There is no application process to join the Honors Program at URI. When applying to URI be sure to check the box on the Common App to show interest in Honors.

Students who meet the following criteria will be eligible to join the Honors Program
1) have a 3.80 or greater high school GPA (weighted and recalculated
OR
2) A recalculated high school GPA of 3.6 to 3.79 who indicate an interest in becoming a changemaker, will have their common application reviewed for alignment with the mission of our program.
If you didn’t receive an invitation
Students who were not initially eligible to take Honors courses as first semester incoming students, can qualify for the Honors Program by earning a cumulative GPA of 3.40 or higher their first semester at URI.
Transfer students
Students who transfer to the University of Rhode Island with a cumulative GPA of 3.40 or higher from their previous college or university will be eligible to enroll in Honors courses. To maintain eligibility and continue in the Honors Program, students must maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.40 or higher.
