Students who meet the following criteria will be eligible to join Honors at URI

1) have a 3.80 or greater high school GPA (weighted and recalculated and submit the required brief statement on the Common Application if you would like to be considered for the Honors Program

If you didn’t receive an invitation

Students who were not initially eligible to take Honors courses as first semester incoming students, can qualify for Honors by earning a cumulative GPA of 3.40 or higher their first semester at URI.

Transfer students

Students who transfer to the University of Rhode Island with a cumulative GPA of 3.40 or higher from their previous college or university will be eligible to enroll in Honors courses. To maintain eligibility and continue in the Honors Program, students must maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.40 or higher.
