Lohith Chatragadda is a Junior double major in Neuroscience and microbiology and an honors ambassador and is also involved on campus in the NMDP Chapter of URI, Pre-health Ambassador, DocOpp (URI premed club.) He is working on research in the Wearable Biosencing Lab with doctor Dhaval Solenky, doctor Kunal Mankodiya and doctor Delmonico. The project they are working on enables interactive group rehabilitation using e-textiles and they built a cloth forearm band that can read your muscle signals and and allow you to control a computer game for group rehabilitation at home in the future.
His favorite part about honors is the small glass sizes that allow him to be closer to the other students in the class and the professors and the inclusive environment in which you can talk about topics in a deeper way.
“I think the Honors program is a great way for students to explore topics outside the curricula of their majors. This can create more well-rounded professionals.”
Lohith plans to go to medical school after graduating from URI to pursue neurosurgery. Watch his Student Spotlight Video.
