Tuition Waivers

Tuition waivers are available to all full-time employees. The waiver covers the general course fee only. All other fees and costs for books are the responsibility of the employee. Tuition waivers are not applicable to non-credit or specialty courses.

Please refer to the appropriate union for eligibility.

Instructions

To submit tuition waivers for URI, CCRI and RIC, employees must first log in to eCampus.

General Process:

URI Enrollment Services has asked that tuition waivers be submitted prior to the first day of classes in order to process them in a timely manner. There are a few pieces you will need to submit in order to have your tuition waiver approved:

  • An eCampus Tuition Waiver Entry – see below for step by step instructions
  • A FERPA Release Form, signed and notarized. Here is a list of Notaries at URI.
    • If the waiver is for a spouse or dependent, they also need to sign and have it notarized.
  • IF the waiver is for a dependent, you will also need to submit a Dependency Affidavit
  • IF the waiver is for the employee and is during the course of work hours, HR will need an email from your supervisor confirming how you will be making up or utilizing personal time to account for that absence throughout the semester.

The FERPA and Dependency Affidavit forms need to be submitted via email (benefits@etal.uri.edu), fax (874-5230), interoffice mail, or dropping it off at HR on the Kingston Campus.
