RETIREMENT

I. PURPOSE:

 To establish a procedure to inform employees of the retirement program.

II. APPLICABLE TO:

 All non-classified employees and faculty

III. POLICY:

 As a condition of employment, non-classified employees and faculty must participate, after two years of employment if 30 years of age or over, in the RI Board of Governors’ Defined Contribution Retirement Plan.

IV. PROCEDURE:

New Employees:

 Although the retirement program is explained in detail during onboarding, new employees, who wish additional information or who have questions relative to the retirement program, are invited to visit the Office of Human Resource Administration, Employee Benefits Section, where a staff member will clarify any area not understood.

Retirement:

Non Classified Retirement Eligibility is age 55 with 10 years of service. You must meet eligibility requirements in order to qualify for any post retirement benefits that were elected at the time of hire. Employees who plan to retire, please contact the Retirement Coordinator, Employee Benefits at the Office of Human Resource Administration,  at least three (3) months in advance, to receive information concerning necessary retirement procedures and post retirement benefit information.
