Accelerated Bachelor’s to Master’s

Admission

Students will apply for the ABM program through GradCas, the same way they would apply for a graduate program. There is no application fee. A competitive ABM applicant will have the following:

  • The student must be a current student in URI’s Clinical Neuroscience, Neuropharmacology, or Molecular Neuroscience major,
  • Participated in a meeting with INP Administration to discuss their plans and identify the track (Thesis vs. Non-thesis) for which they will apply,
  • At the start of the student’s Junior year, they must have a minimum of 75 credits toward their Neuroscience bachelor’s degree (all three tracks are eligible, at time of application) and 90 credits upon starting the ABM,
  • A current 3.2 GPA or higher,
  • Two letters of recommendation from INP faculty

*NOTE: Applicants are not required to submit GRE scores. The INP is not able to offer admission fee waivers to applicants.

Deadline

  • Fall admission only (no Spring semester) – December 1

Students will be enrolled in the NEU‐ABM program only after they have met the Graduate School admission requirements and have completed 90 undergraduate credits (end of their Junior year). Up to ten credits of approved graduate‐eligible coursework can be counted toward both the bachelor’s and master’s degrees and the student will be eligible, with approval of the Graduate Director, to take other graduate‐level courses during their senior year toward their master’s degree while completing undergraduate requirements. NEU-ABM students will be eligible to apply for a graduate teaching assistantship but preference will be given to students who are entering the traditional program.
