For faculty who are interested in applying to become an INP Affiliate or Core Member:
Faculty seeking membership in the INP must provide a current CV to the INP Director along with a brief statement describing teaching and/or research activities in neuroscience, how they intend to serve the INP, and whether they intend to initially join as a Core or Affiliate member.
Affiliate status is defined as faculty who conduct neuroscience research or are interested in collaborating with INP faculty. They will be designated Affiliate members of the INP for three consecutive years if approved by the INP Executive Committee. Faculty interested in Affiliate status should indicate their interest in a letter/email to the Director, or a newly hired faculty member may be recommended by their department chair for affiliation to the INP Executive Committee. Newly hired faculty may become Core faculty, through teaching, mentoring students in research, or service (INP Bylaws, 1.2.11). Affiliate members may send a letter/email to the INP Executive Committee requesting core faculty status at any time if they intend to become involved in the program via teaching, service, or mentoring.
The Executive Committee will review information provided by the applicants for involvement in neuroscience activities outlined in the bylaws and submit a final list to the Core INP Faculty for a vote that will take place within two weeks (during the 9 month academic year). If there is a majority vote for approval by the Core Faculty, then the application will be approved by the Executive Committee.
Membership in the INP is for a three-year term and is renewable based on a review on neuroscience activities outlined in these bylaws.
Membership renewal requires a one-page statement describing teaching/mentoring and/or neuroscience research and/or contributions to the INP over the prior three years.
