Immersion
Max Kade German Language Learning Community
The Max Kade community in the TI House on 61 Upper College Road provides a unique living environment for students studying German. The floor combines students in our IEP program (a dual degree in German and Engineering) and exchange students from German-speaking countries to immerse residents in the German language and culture. The community serves as a gathering place for German speakers on campus and hosts film and television screenings, lectures, discussions, tutoring, and cultural events that are open to German students of every level.
German (STEM) Immersion Programs
The German program at URI offers two intensive language immersion programs in Germany:
- During the German STEM Immersion School in Berlin students can immerse themselves in German language and culture, and learn from experts in the STEM fields about the role of Germany in the sciences, technology, and engineering.
- In cooperation with the University of Notre Dame, we are also offering a Language Immersion School in Berlin that combines engaging beginner and intermediate language classes with fun group activities and excursions to expedite the learning progress and prepare students for study abroad, internships, and daily life in Germany.
Please contact Prof. Trackdorf (tracksdorf@uri.edu) to find out more about our Berlin Immersion programs.
