Biography

Kayla Soares grew up in South Kingstown, Rhode Island and completed both her B.A. in French and her M.A. in Education at the University of Rhode Island. It was during her undergraduate studies in the French program that truly made her want to pursue a career in academia. In addition to being a URI alumna, Kayla taught French for several years at URI as an adjunct professor, in addition to multiple Rhode Island secondary schools. She has also taught French and Italian at Roger Williams University and Bryant University. Kayla is just starting her PhD in Langues, cultures, et littératies at Simon Fraser University in Canada. Previously, she studied in Grenoble, France and in Angers, France. In addition to spending time with her family and animals, she travels the world any chance she gets.
