Biography

Qingyu Yang, Ph.D., is a Teaching Professor of Chinese at the University of Rhode Island. Her professional background centers on teaching Chinese as a second language and researching blended Chinese language instruction, proficiency-based pedagogy, second language acquisition, language assessment, and Chinese culture. She has completed both OPI and WPT tester training and holds official OPI certification.

Dr. Yang has presented at numerous national and international conferences and is the recipient of multiple national calligraphy awards. Throughout her academic career, she has taught Chinese at all proficiency levels at URI—from beginning to advanced—and has served as the Academic Director for the university’s summer and winter Chinese immersion programs.
