Community Planning Minor

The minor in Community Planning is for students from all academic fields who want to expand their knowledge of the processes involved in community planning and development.

Requirements

The minor requires a total of 18 credits. Nine of the 18 credits are required courses and the remaining are elective courses.

Required introductory course:

  • CPL 410: Fundamentals of Community Planning Practice

In addition, you must complete six credits from the following list:

  • CPL 391: Directed Study in Community Planning
  • CPL 434: Introduction to Environmental Law
  • CPL 450: Urban Design
  • CPL 485: Environmental Planning
  • CPL 538: Site Planning

A maximum of 3 credits of CPL 391 can be applied toward the required courses of the minor. Alternatively, 3 credits of CPL 391 can be applied toward the elective courses in the minor.

Nine credits of elective courses from the following list is required in consultation with the community planning minor advisor:

A maximum of two courses required in a major program may be used to apply to both the major and the minor field of study.
