Anna Antonova to present at the 2015 MARE People and the Sea Conference in Amsterdam, June 24-26.
On June 25th, Anna Antonova will present her Master of Arts in Marine Affairs thesis work at the 2015 MARE People and the Sea Conference VIII in Amsterdam, one of the premier fora for marine social scientists in Europe. Anna’s thesis work, “Fair Fishing: Human Rights and Sustainability in the European Union’s Bilateral Fishing Agreements with Developing Countries,” focused on the rhetoric and substance of the European Union’s fishing access agreements with developing states. It explored themes of policy coherence within the European Union, human rights in global fishing communities, and the problems of operationalizing international law principles through concrete policy provisions.
