2015 MAMA alumna Anna S. Antonova recently published an article in Marine Policy based on research conducted for her Masters’ thesis at URI. The article, which you can read here http://authors.elsevier.com/a/1Sz1W,714MRPEr, entitled ‘The rhetoric of ‘responsible fishing’: Notions of human rights and sustainability in the European Union’s bilateral fishing agreements with developing states’, explores the discrepancy between European Commission rhetoric and policy on introducing good ecosystem practices and progressive human rights policies into fishing relations with third states. Anna is currently a Marie Sklodowska-Curie Research Fellow at the University of Leeds, UK, where she is on track to receive her Ph.D. in 2018.
In other news, Anna had a run in with both Kristen and Amelia during the AAG meeting in San Francisco. MAF is everywhere!
