Recent MAF PhD graduate Alanna Casey ’18 recently accepted a position as a Coastal Program GIS/Research Analyst with the California Coastal Commission at the headquarters office in San Francisco. Through this position, most of Alanna’s time will be spent developing and building the California Coastal Armoring Database. This geodatabase is an inventory of every shoreline protection device on California’s 1,200 mile coastline and will contribute towards statewide sea level rise planning, with an emphasis on maintaining public access to the coastline.
