Dr. Carlos G. García-Quijano and colleague Dr. Hilda Lloréns published their article From Extractive Agriculture to Industrial Waste Periphery: Life in a Black-Puerto Rican Ecology in Black Perspectives, an award-winning blog of the African American Intellectual History Society (AAIHS).
Their article observes their combined research on the livelihoods of rural and coastal Puerto Rican families in the predominantly Black/Afro descended southeastern part of the archipelago’s large island. This article takes a hard look on the relationships between neoliberal establishment and the impacts to local inhabitants.
