Research: Human interactions with marine and coastal environments
Background: B.A. in Environmental Policy and Managerial Economics from Union College
Kelci Gilot currently resides in Warren, RI but hails from Mystic, CT. Growing up and living along New England coastlines cultivated her passion for the environment. Inspired by her love of the ocean, Kelci pursued her Bachelor of Arts in Environmental Policy and Managerial Economics from Union College. After graduating from Union College in 2022, Kelci began studying at Roger Williams University School of Law. While in law school, Kelci has been an active member of the Environmental Law Society and Coastal Resilience Law and Policy Clinic. Kelci commenced the joint Juris Doctor-Master of Marine Affairs degree program between RWU Law and University of Rhode Island in 2024. In spite of all her assigned readings, she is still an avid reader in her personal life– as of October 2024, she has read her thirtieth book of the year. Unlike a typical lawyer, Kelci gravitates towards mathematics and has most enjoyed studying Secured Transactions at law school. As a student who is passionate about the environment, Kelci wants to use her time to make a difference regarding how we interact with and think about our environment. Kelci’s interests cover a variety of topics, including the intersection of social sciences and natural sciences. She hopes to productively apply research findings involving human interactions with marine and coastal environments at either a federal government agency or in politics.
