Bachelor of Arts in Marine Affairs
Curriculum
All students admitted to the University of Rhode Island are eligible to major in MAF B.A. (formally, Coastal and Marine Policy Studies.)
Program Requirements
This major provides the student with a general liberal arts education and with specific study of policy and management concerning coastal and marine environments. The degree allows the student to take a diverse set of courses in the liberal arts and social sciences.
30 credits (minimum) in MAF B.A. courses
3 credits in statistics
3 credits in oceanography
Students are encouraged to pursue internships, as they often create an important link between the university and applied, professional settings.
A total of 120 credits is required for graduation.
Academic Options
The MAF B.A. major may be combined with other majors such as Aquaculture and Fisheries Science, Marine Biology, Geosciences, Natural Resources Science, Political Science, and Environmental and Natural Resource Economics.
Students may earn a double major or a major and minor through such combined study.
